Graphic artworks for exterior of six 'Winter Pavilions', MuseumsQuartier Wien, Austria
Pavilions each: 306 x 1025 x 507 cm

The project started with the simple idea of architecture in snowfall. Exterior surfaces of winter pavilions were covered in drifting representations of Viennese street scenes, simultaneously dissolving rigid forms of the pavilions themselves. Original photographs were overlayed with images of smoke combined with various textures, such as bone marrow or waste. Vivid colours and irregular patterns mimicked the logic of medical imagery, especially histological sections: snow interferes with common perception of the city but also allows new insights into its inner workings.

Invited competition, winner, comissioned by MQW and judged by Q21, Kunstalle Wien and the Leopold Museum.
