A sense of 'insideness' can be achieved by means other than a simple enclosure, relying on the way the continuity of space in front and the space behind is inferred, rather than seen. By controlling how what is seen disappears from the field of vision from a particular point of view, Shelter creates an experience of being inside, which contradicts the knowledge of being outside.
