Graphic artworks for exterior of six Winter Pavilions, MuseumsQuartier Wien, Austria
Pavilions each: 306 x 1025 x 507 cm
The project started with a simple idea of architecture in snowfall. Exterior surfaces of the pavilions were wrapped in representations of Viennese street scenes, overlaid with smoke patterns and textures such as bone marrow or waste, dissolving the rigid contours. Vivid colours and irregular patterns were used to mimic the logic of medical imagery, including histological sections: snow interferes with common perceptions of the city, but at the same time offers glimpses into its inner workings.
